NACOLE Regional Training & Networking Event: Nashville, TN

In partnership with City of Nashville and Mayor David Briley, NACOLE is excited to announce it will be holding one of the 2019 Regional Training and Networking events in Nashville, Tennessee. We hope that you will be able to join us there for a day of training and networking at the Nashville Main Library on May 17, 2019.

Amendment 1, an amendment calling for the creation of a community oversight board to investigate and review allegations of misconduct by the Nashville Metro Police Department was approved by voters on November 6, 2018. Since that date, there has been a tremendous amount of work to nominate and approve the 11-member board and, now, to hire the staff that will carry out the day-to-day the work of the agency.

This event will provide an opportunity to bring training to a variety of audiences, including but not limited to community members, oversight practitioners, justice system stakeholders, and academics in Nashville and throughout the region. It will seek to address many issues important to those who support, are interested in, or work in the field of civilian oversight of law enforcement. In particular, this training opportunity will take on topics such as the practice of civilian oversight in Tennessee, community outreach, mediation, and investigation techniques.  It will also provide an invaluable opportunity for those in attendance to network and discuss those aspects of civilian oversight they find important.

Please note that this event is open to all those wishing to attend. The registration fee for this event is $75 and includes training, continental breakfast, and lunch. Please note that no one will be turned away from this event for lack of funds. Registration fees will be waived or a donation accepted for those who find that paying the full registration fee would prohibit their ability to attend and who are not seeking Certified Practitioner of Oversight (CPO) program credits.

Lunch will be provided along with a continental breakfast. We also invite all registered attendees to join us for a networking reception that will be held at the end of the day from 4:30pm - 7:00 pm.  This will be an opportunity for attendees to further discuss the topics of the day and learn more about the work being done in Nashville, the State of Nashville, and around the country.

Should you need to cancel your registration you may do so by May 3, 2019.  Registration fees will be refunded minus a $25 processing fee.  We will not be able to issue refunds under any circumstances after this date.

NACOLE is grateful to those sponsors who have made this event possible:
