Jed Fiato

Jed brings over 15 years of experience in communications, event production, training, outreach, and program development across federal, state, and nonprofit settings. He is a training expert who has designed and delivered programs that have reached thousands of people across the country, produced large-scale conferences and convenings in partnership with agencies like FEMA and SAMHSA, and launched fundraising campaigns that drive community impact. His background spans nonprofit management, securing federal funding, building and managing cross-sector partnerships, developing programs, and coordinating volunteers.

Before joining NACOLE, Jed spent five years as a Senior Consultant with Fors Marsh, where he worked closely with FEMA, the CDC, and other federal agencies — supporting and driving national resilience efforts and helping launch national campaigns like the CDC's Free Mind campaign on youth overdose prevention. At FEMA, he led regional and national training, outreach, and stakeholder engagement efforts across New England, serving as a trusted advisor on community preparedness and resilience programming. Earlier in his career, he managed federal grant portfolios and helped build national service programs with AmeriCorps, and led statewide volunteer coordination, emergency management operations, and fundraising with the New Hampshire State Service Commission.

Jed is deeply passionate about mental health, social justice, and equity. At FEMA, he championed and pioneered emotional and psychological resiliency training programs for first responders that received national recognition and were adopted across multiple regions. He continues that work closer to home in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he serves as a facilitator and instructor with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), leading curriculum-based education programs for families and individuals affected by mental illness. He also serves on the board of B Corps Mid Atlantic.

When he's not working, you can usually find Jed on the road or on a trail. He's driven to all 48 contiguous states, summited Mount Whitney — the highest peak in the lower 48 — and is steadily working his way through every national park in the country.

Jed holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy from New England College and a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Houghton College.
