Topic: Reproductive Justice
Please join NACOLE on June 23, 2026, at 10 - 11 am PDT/1 - 2 pm EDT for our next quarterly online virtual forum for jail and prison oversight (JPO).
The forum will focus on common reproductive justice concerns impacting individuals incarcerated in prisons and jails – including inadequate access to reproductive health care, threats to health and safety during pregnancy and the postpartum period, interference with autonomous reproductive decision-making, and family separation – and potential strategies and solutions to address these concerns. We will hear a brief presentation from Emily Werth, Senior Supervising Attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, who has been involved in litigation and other advocacy efforts and co-authored a report related to this topic.
The presentation will be followed by Q&A and open discussion facilitated by Amarik Singh, Chair of the NACOLE Jail and Prison Oversight Committee, and Inspector General of the California Office of the Inspector General.
Forum attendees are encouraged to bring specific questions and resources related to the topic as this is an opportunity to exchange insight and suggestions with the JPO community. If you would like to submit a question or a resource in advance, please email [email protected], with attention to Amarik Singh.
