Gianina (Juh-Nina) Horton is excited to join NACOLE as the new Event Coordinator. She has had the privilege to work on criminal justice issues impacting under-resourced communities. The bulk of which was crafting, implementing, and evaluating a youth outreach program called Bridging the Gap: Kids & Cops at the City and County of Denver’s Office of the Independent Monitor, building a small and mighty nonprofit called the Denver Justice Project, and utilizing data to reduce youth of color involvement in the juvenile justice system with the State of Colorado. These opportunities have allowed Gianina to strengthen her skills to work across sectors, and build meaningful relationships leading to system change.

Gianina holds a degree from Colorado College in Political Science, and considers herself to be an advocate and connector. She is the mother to two fur-babies, enjoys reading fiction, and will never turn down an opportunity to eat some good food with new and old friends.
