Firearms 201
On Friday, December 10, 2024, NACOLE welcomed Dr. Thomas Whetstone, from the Louisville Metro Office of Inspector General, to follow up on his Firearms 101 webinar earlier this year.
Policing is the one public service where employees are literally trained to kill. While the death of an individual is not actually sought, the practical ramification is that many do indeed expire as a victim of police gunfire. This webinar discusses what types of firearms training is provided for law enforcement officers and the state of the art in methods, weapons, and expected proficiency in the use of firearms. Anyone who is tasked with investigating Officer Involved Shootings (OIS) or reviewing OIS investigations should consider attending this webinar.
Firearms 201 picks up where Firearms 101 (February 2024) left off. Participants are strongly urged to view (cost free) the previous NACOLE webinar “Firearms 101 with Doc Whetstone.” Many of the terms and concepts used in Firearms 201 are defined and discussed in Firearms 101, which is now freely available on the NACOLE website: https://www.nacole.org/firearms_101_pw.
