Visiting St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg was recently ranked the second most beautiful city in America, and has been ranked for three years in a row as America’s number one Arts Destination for midsize cities. The city is located on the West Florida Central Coast, on a peninsula in the Tampa Bay Metro Area. Downtown St. Pete is a pedestrian friendly waterfront district on the shores of Tampa Bay, the third largest downtown waterfront park system in North America. Along its downtown beaches, bays and bayous and beautiful green parks, running trails, recreation facilities and the burgeoning tower in downtown St. Pete. Beach Drive is a graceful promenade along the waterfront and home to dozens of outdoor cafes. Nearby, Sundial offers shoppers ample of boutiques and restaurants in a sophisticated outdoor setting. Central Avenue has become home to galleries, new and eclectic locally-owned restaurants and a thriving nightlife scene.

Between the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and the Hilton St. Petersburg, there are more than 600 first class hotel rooms and the city’s largest inventory of meeting space. Other hotels (Hyatt Place, Hotel Indigo, the Marriott Courtyard, Staybridge and Hampton Inns), plus a unique collection of boutique hotels and B&Bs contribute to the volume of space in downtown St. Pete. All of these properties are walkable, and are also served by the Downtown Looper, a trolley that offers circulatory service downtown for just 50 cents between all the city’s hotels and attractions.

These attractions include our top notch museums: the world famous Salvador Dali Museum, the acclaimed Museum of Fine Arts and the world’s first permanent Chihuly Glass Collection. Other museums include the Museum of History, Florida Holocaust Museum, Dr. G. Carter Woodson Museum, African American Heritage Trail, a walking tour of city murals, and dozens of galleries. The city is home to The Florida Orchestra, the Mahaffey Theater, Palladium and five resident theater and opera companies.
