Amanda Bustos joined NACOLE as the Director of Operations in the summer of 2021. As the Director of Operations, she assists the President, Board of Directors and Director of Training & Education with the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Prior to NACOLE, Ms. Bustos served 5 years as the Community Engagement Specialist for the Albuquerque Civilian Police Oversight Agency (CPOA) overseeing consent decree compliance goals for the Agency’s community outreach component. Ms. Bustos was introduced and immersed into NACOLE when Albuquerque hosted the Annual NACOLE Conference in 2016. With over 15 years of professional experience working with local non-profits, local government, and as an AmeriCorps Alumni serving in the most vulnerable communities in Albuquerque, Ms. Bustos was eager to join the NACOLE family to continue her work in civilian oversight at a national level.
Ms. Bustos is from Albuquerque, NM, but has recently relocated to St. Petersburg, FL with her husband. A first-generation college graduate, she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Studies and Spanish from the University of New Mexico and a dual Master’s degree in Social Work and Business Administration with a concentration in HR Government Non-Profit Management from New Mexico Highlands University.
