In recent years, journalists have played a pivotal role in identifying and reporting on policing issues of concern to the public.  In addition, journalists have investigated systemic failures in America’s police departments and led the charge for increased access to data and transparency.  Join us on Wednesday, June 23rd as we welcome prominent journalists who have been at the forefront of these efforts.  Beyond discussing the role journalism has played in police reform efforts, panelists will discuss the influence of movements like Black Lives Matter on their work, as well as on the public discourse, the obstacles they encounter in obtaining information from police departments, and their suggestions for those who work in the police oversight field to engage journalists more effectively.
