Officer-Involved Shooting Investigations
LAPD Force Investigation Division (24 hours)
Covers such topics as investigative best practices, transparency, use of force policy and procedures, bifurcated investigations ("clean" and "dirty" teams), procedures for managing an OIS/Use of Force scene and working within the bifurcated system, evidence, conducting walk-throughs, crime scene management, command posts, interview techniques, transcripts exercises, case studies, and presentations by the Office of the Inspector General, District Attorney's Office, Use of Force Review Board, and the Police Protective League.

Internal Investigations Course
LAPD Internal Affairs Group (40 hours)
Covers such topics as administrative law and policy, preliminary investigation procedures, complaint strategies and procedures, complaint interview techniques, complainant and witness interview preparation, accused officer interviews, report writing, workplace issues investigations, case review and evaluation, biased policing (racial profiling), personnel searches, warrants and call-outs, and commanding officer adjudication insight.
